Hotdog Discrimination

I just want to share an issue that is near and dear to my heart and that is gluten free price inequality. Please tell me why I should have to pay more to be able to physically eat something. Seriously though, make that make sense!!

Before I was diagnosed with Celiac disease I was blissfully unaware of these injustices but now this is something I notice all the time. Last night for example, I realized that my hot dog at the diamondbacks game cost $2.50 MORE than Josh’s hotdog. WHY? HOW? And who is handling this pricing strategy?! $10.49 is such an odd price but I digress.

Now I understand that special accommodations are needed. Yes, we require a specific bun to be able to enjoy this simple pleasure but $2.50 per is pretty freaking steep and I’m confident that you’re making a HEFTY profit off of my gluten intolerance which feels wrong. Also I think we can all assume the profit margin on just the regular hot dogs alone would offset the cost of buying a few packs of gluten free buns.

And while I’m already on this rant I’d like to provide a general PSA that if you do plan to order a hotdog at the dbacks game you better do it in the first inning because by the 5th the buns are already crumbling. Yes…I had 2 hot dogs last night #yolo

This is not just a hotdog problem though. I’ve seen and experienced it at multiple restaurants and tbh it just doesn’t sit right with me. Why should we be financially punished for not being able to process all the random things this country is hiding in our wheat?! omg is this a political blog post??? Well guess there is a first time for everything.

I’m not asking for much here. I’m not asking for a gluten free hot dog to be cheaper than the normal hotdog. I’m not even asking for it to be the same price necessarily. I’m simply asking not to feel like I’m financing the stadium’s next renovation every time I request a bun that won’t destroy my intestines #period

Anyway, this is my official call for hot dog equality. One bun, one nation, reasonably priced for ALL!!!
