it feels fitting that my very first post is about food. i may be small but boy oh boy am i food motivated.
traveling with celiac disease can be hella scary. tbh when i was first diagnosed i cried reading blogs at night that basically said my culinary experince would be over FOREVER and i should buckle up and be prepared to be eating at home for the rest of my life #nothanks.
i am happy to report that is very much NOT the case! i also just want to say i fully recognize my reactions to gluten have never caused me to be hospitalized but being “glutened” is extremely uncomfortable, can quickly end a night out, can take 8-10 hours to get over and is something i wouldnt wish on anyone. it is no fun.
okay enough of this… back to the food :)
the food in mexico city is BEYOND and no its not just tacos #eyeroll. mexico city is the culinary experience that your taste buds deserve.

Gluten accommodations available with the tasting menu!!
as i mentioned earlier traveling with celiac can make your cheeks clench when sitting down for a meal. especially when you are dining somewhere with a tasting menu because you just never know if they will be able to accomodate the allergy. in my experience 8/10 times the chef can make substitutions as long as they have a heads up in advance. some places will even make SPECIAL gluten treats which are truly a gift from god.
anywho Pujol ranked in that 8/10 bucket and i am SO freaking thankful because my god every little bite was divine. just looking at the picture of the buckwheat tabbouleh i can picture myself doing my usual food happy dance when the flavors are off the charts. i can also hear crab saying he wants to try a bite but SPOILER ALERT i ended up eating it all LOL.
every dish hit. truly. and i will say the portion sizes were SPOT ON. with tasting menus i can sometimes feel i need to be carried out of the restaurant, but with this one i left full but not overly stuffed.
