This is What Healing Is Made Of

I’m 1000% in a nostalgia era right now. I have been leaning into my inner child hard this year and honestly I’m not mad about it. It lowkey feels very therapeutic and kind of healing. It should be no surprise that when I heard Hilary Duff was going on tour I had signed up for the presale almost immediately.

The Lizzie McGuire show on Disney channel was not only iconic but a very fond part of my childhood. To waking up ever single morning to my come clean CD, to romanticizing a trip to Europe my girl Lizzie was with me every step of the way. But for real blasting and dancing to “this is what dreams are made of” at our hotel in Florence 3 summers ago is a core adult memory.

The concert itself was everything I could have wanted. Picture thousands yes thousands of millennial girlies and gays decked out in early 2000s garb screaming the lyrics to every single song while jumping up and down in unison. The energy was UNREAL. Lowkey getting goosebumps as I’m writing this because the vibes were just unmatched. Again HEALING. So much Joy. 12/10 recommend.

Now I can’t lie and not include the fact that I’m unsure if Hilary was legit singing LOL but also who cares. I knew this wasn’t a Beyonce concert. Seriously girl, GET those coins we all needed this!!! Also idk who her stylist is for this tour but they deserve a raise. I honestly wanted every single outfit she wore. The harness dress outfit is seriously still living rent free in my head so don’t be surprised if you see me attempting to pull this off sometime soon.

Maybe growing up isn’t actually about leaving all of that stuff behind. Maybe part of it is getting old enough to realize you’re allowed to go back and collect the things that made you happy in the first place.

Even if that means screaming This Is What Dreams Are Made Of in a room full of thousands of millennials while Hilary Duff may or may not be singing it live IRL.

Honestly? Healing comes in many forms.

Well, that’s my life.
